Let me tell you a secret: I am a believer.
I believe in thinking.
I believe in working.
I believe in reflecting.
I believe in introspecting.
I believe in knowing myself.
I believe in yoga and meditation.
And I believe in something which is beyond all this.
But that something isn’t
Dogma
Guruism
Ritualism
Mysticism
Spirituality
Cult personality
Spiritual bypassing
Enlightenment complex
And sacred but irrelevant texts.
What makes me think of this?
Because the way people of my parents’ generation used to fall for Religion, the same way people of my generation are falling for Spirituality.
And they are using it to
- escape everyday struggle of life,
- avoid dealing with unresolved emotional issues
- post cool stuff on social media.
For me, Spirituality is knowing yourself (physically, mentally and emotionally) and using that self-awareness to become a better version of yourself, every single day.
